Dr. E. Sharon Banks

Treasurer of the Board of Directors

Dr. E. Sharon Banks built an impressive reputation as an industry leader, distinguished educator, counselor, Title One parent coordinator, and district area superintendent within the education industry, and is currently the CEO of E.S. Banks & Associates. After retiring as a Superintendent, Dr. Banks dedicated her full attention to strengthening and expanding a fast-growing educational consulting firm based in Georgia where she successfully eradicates educational hurdles and cultivates continuous improvement. Her contributions as a superintendent were widely-recognized which led to being selected as one of seventeen superintendents from the nation to participate in a National Superintendent’s Forum on literacy conducted at Harvard University. Prior to this, she also devoted her time and effort serving in the political arena as the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana. 

 

Throughout her years of excellence in diverse industries, Dr. Banks has received numerous local, state, and national awards, including Michigan Superintendent of the Year (2002). She was also named as Educator of the Year with National Alliance of Black School Educators and the National Principal of the Year while serving as a high school principal with Northrop High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Apart from being recognized as a remarkable educator, she received a National Lifetime Achievement Award from the United Negro Business & Professional Women's Organization in Atlanta for displaying greatness and commitment in promoting and protecting the interests of African-American women business owners and professionals.

 

Dr. E. Sharon Banks has worn many hats during her thirty-seven-year career in academic instruction, educational consultation, non-profit work and community involvement, politics, counseling, and business operations. Alongside her professional career, she considers herself a lifelong learner, forward thinker, and visionary leader who walks in faith and feels blessed to be surrounded by her family, friends and church members. Throughout her life Dr. Banks have always remained optimistic in overcoming challenges and obstacles and believes in, “playing the hand that you are dealt”.


Dr. Banks continues to dedicate her focus on leadership development, parental leadership advancement, and community involvement through helping educational institutions, schools, parents, and students in improving the overall experience of learning, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the academic programs, and ensuring success with educational planning. She has lived and worked in the states of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Louisiana and Georgia, and is currently residing in Tyrone, Georgia. Dr. Banks has been married 53 years to her husband, William Banks, and while she is proud of her professional career, her 8 grand children and 2 great grand children enjoy her love for life and knowledge.
